Vacina americana terá fase de testes pela UFMG
Mais uma vacina, promessa de luta contra a Covid-19, entra em fase de testes no Brasil. Dessa vez em Minas Gerais. A Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) ficará responsável pelos testes da vacina desenvolvida pela empresa americana Johnson & Johnson.
A Universidade já realizou testes para a vacina chinesa Coronavac, mas o procedimento da vacina americana funcionará de forma diferente. Dessa vez não serão selecionados apenas profissionais de saúde para pesquisa.
Essa é a última fase de testagem. A UFMG integra a rede internacional CoVPN cujo objetivo é promover a testagem de diferentes produtos com o máximo rigor científico.
Para se tornar voluntário, o indivíduo deve ter pelo menos 18 anos e não há limite máximo de idade. Serão recrutados cerca de 30 a 60 mil participantes na Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colômbia, México, Peru, África do Sul e EUA. A Faculdade de Medicina será responsável por acompanhar dois mil voluntários. Os testes devem começar na próxima semana.
