Projeto “PrEPara” realizará testes rápidos de HIV gratuitamente
O Projeto PrEPara Salvador estará no Campus I da UNEB, na capital baiana, orientando e aplicando testes rápidos de HIV em jovens LGBT de 15 a 19, segunda-feira (23), das 13h30 às 17h.
A ação, que será realizada na sala 309, no Departamento de Ciências da Vida (DCV II), na unidade, visa conscientizar a população adolescente LGBT sobre as práticas de prevenção às principais infecções sexualmente transmissíveis (IST) e sobre a prevenção ao HIV através da Profilaxia Pré-Exposição (PrEP). Os testes são sigilosos e os resultados serão entregues em 30 minutos somente aos titulares dos exames.
A UNEB é uma das executoras deste projeto em Salvador que é co-coordenado pelo professor Laio Magno, do Colegiado de Enfermagem/DCV. Para o docente, “o objetivo é convidar esses jovens – da comunidade acadêmica e do entorno – para participarem do programa de prevenção às IST”, destacou.
O acompanhamento será realizado pelos profissionais que atuam na sede do projeto, no Casarão da Diversidade instalado na Rua do Tijolo nº 8, Pelourinho (próximo à Praça da Sé). A testagem em HIV é muito importante para evitar que a infecção, caso exista, se agrave, além de evitar a transmissão do vírus aos parceiros sexuais através do tratamento com antirretrovirais. A partir do teste, a pessoa pode ser encaminhada para o tratamento correto caso seja positiva ou, sendo negativa, para o programa de prevenção com uso de PrEP, no projeto.
Projeto PrEPara Salvador é parte de um estudo que visa demonstrar a efetividade da PrEP em jovens LGBT. Fruto de um esforço conjunto entre várias universidades, incluindo a Universidade do Estado da Bahia, a Universidade Federal da Bahia, o Ministério da Saúde e a Fiocruz, a iniciativa integra o projeto mundial de combate à epidemia de HIV, financiado pela Unitaid.
