ONU premia graduada em Biotecnologia pela UFBA por projeto sobre meio ambiente
Mesmo com toda dificuldade causada pelo governo federal com corte de recursos para instituições federais, ainda vemos resultados positivos que nos fazem comemorar. E dessa vez de uma jovem baiana. Graduada em Biotecnologia pela UFBA em 2018, Anna Luisa Beserra é a primeira brasileira a vencer o prêmio Jovens Campeões da Terra, principal premiação ambiental das Nações Unidas (ONU) para jovens entre 18 e 30 anos.

A jovem de 21 anos é criadora do Aqualuz – um dispositivo que purifica a água através dos raios solares e já garante acesso a água limpa para 265 pessoas no semiárido.
O dispositivo Aqualuz, mesmo nome da startup que ela fundou ainda na graduação, por meio do programa Inovapoli, incubadora (projeto para desenvolver empresas) da UFBA, é uma caixa de inox coberta por vidro e uma tubulação para ser ligada à cisterna. O sistema de filtragem da água é feita com energia limpa, sem a necessidade de uso de compostos químicos. Uma bomba faz a água do reservatório passar por um filtro ecológico que retém partículas de sujeira. Em seguida, a água fica em um espaço onde recebe luz solar diretamente – é a radiação do sol que vai tornar a água limpa. No final do processo, um sensor que muda de cor avisa o usuário que a água está adequada para consumo.
De acordo com testes preliminares feitos em laboratório certificado, que usaram parâmetros do Ministério da Saúde, o sistema reduziu em 99,9% a presença de bactérias de referência. O Aqualuz tem capacidade de filtrar até 28 litros de água por dia de maneira simples e eficiente.
Beserra foi vencedora na categoria América Latina e Caribe, ao lado de jovens de outras quatro nacionalidades. Há ainda representantes da África, América do Norte, Ásia e Pacífico, Europa e Ásia Ocidental. Os ganhadores receberão o prêmio durante a Cerimônia dos Campeões da Terra em Nova York (EUA), no dia 26 de setembro, quando também acontecerá a reunião anual da Assembleia Geral das Nações Unidas e a Cúpula de Ação Climática.
