Especialistas explicam o que fazer ao avistar animais marinhos nas praias
Tivemos casos recentes em Salvador de aparição de animais marinhos nas nossas praias. Infelizmente alguns não puderam ser salvos mesmo com a tentativa da população.
A temperatura um pouco mais quente, correntes marítimas mais altas, ventos fortes e o clima tropical favorecem a chegada desses visitantes inusitados às areias da capital baiana.

A verdade é que não sabemos como lidar com tartarugas, pinguins, golfinhos, focas, lobos-marinhos e, principalmente baleias. Mas uma coisa é fato. Por mais que o aparecimento de mamíferos marinhos chame a atenção, a orientação de especialistas é manter distância dos animais, até mesmo para tirar fotos.
O titular da Coordenadoria de Salvamento Marítimo de Salvador (Salvamar), Yure Carlton, recomenda que, em situações como essa, o cidadão deve acionar os órgão competentes para fazer a remoção do animal.
“Só uma equipe especializada poderá identificar as condições do animal, ver se está ferido ou tem alguma indicação de doença, antes de fazer a remoção de maneira rápida e segura. Se aproximar de um animal desse porte é muito perigoso, porque quando eles encalham, entendem que estão sob algum tipo de risco e pode acabar machucando quem estiver por perto”, explica Carlton.
Em caso de aparecimento de animais silvestres ou marinhos, a população deve acionar a Guarda Civil Municipal, através do número (71) 3202-5312. Além de órgãos como a Salvamar, Ibama, Polícia Ambiental e o Instituto Baleia Jubarte.
Fenômeno
Segundo o Instituto Baleia Jubarte, o fenômeno de aparição dos animais ocorre porque é neste período, entre os meses de julho a novembro, que eles aproveitam as águas quentes do arquipélago de Abrolhos e do litoral da Bahia para se reproduzirem.
Os locais mais propícios são as águas calmas e com alimentos, áreas onde a plataforma continental sofre um alargamento e mantém as águas rasas por mais de 200 quilômetros mar adentro. O instituto lembra ainda que o maior número de encalhes que vem ocorrendo nos últimos anos é decorrente da recuperação da população de baleias jubarte.
De acordo com o supervisor do Grupo Especial de Proteção Ambiental (GEPA), Robson Pires, das 26 espécies de baleias, 19 visitam o litoral brasileiro, por ser um ambiente rico em biodiversidade e gerar condições para reprodução e crescimento de milhares de animais e vegetais. “As baleias que chegam à nossa costa ou já estão mortas ou muito debilitadas, devido a ataques de predadores, doenças ou politraumatismos provocados por choques contra grandes embarcações. Nesses casos, as chances de sobrevivência são poucas e o tempo para o socorro é curto”, afirma Pires.
Ele lembra ainda que, mesmo machucados ou doentes, estes animais têm a capacidade de nadar até a praia como último recurso para manter o orifício respiratório fora da água e conseguir respirar.
“O contato com o animal é muito perigoso pelo risco de transmissão de doenças, seja pelo contato direto ou respirando o ar que ele expele quando respira. No caso de animais dentro d’água e na zona de arrebentação, há risco de afogamento ou de o animal se debater, podendo ocasionar ferimentos graves como fraturas e até mesmo causar a morte. Por isso, sempre recomendado que a população não se aproxime”, afirma o coordenador de pesquisa do Instituto Baleia Jubarte, Milton Marcondes.
