“Por possuírem ouvidos sensíveis e potentes, o barulho dos fogos de artifícios deixam os animais estressados e atordoados. O ser humano ouve no intervalo entre 16 e 20.000 Hertz, já o cão, ouve de 10 a 40.000 Hertz. A capacidade auditiva de um cão é quase quatro vezes maior”, relata Vininha F. Carvalho, editora da Revista Ecotour News & Negócios.
Mais algumas dicas para amenizar o sofrimento dos animais são sempre bem-vindas:
- Não se deve deixar os cães acorrentados, pois ao ouvirem os fogos de artifícios eles entram em pânico e podem acabar se sufocando. Mantenha o local seguro, livre de objetos que possam machucá-lo.
- Nas residências que possuem piscinas é necessário cobri-la para evitar que animais assustados caiam e se afoguem nela. Mesmo sabendo nadar, se o nível da água estiver baixo, eles não conseguirão sair sozinhos.
- Portas e janelas precisam ficar trancadas para evitar fuga e atropelamento.
- É importante manter os cães com comportamento mais agressivos separados, pois com o barulho ruidoso, eles podem se assustar e brigar entre si.
- A ração deve ser oferecida num período bem distante do momento da queima dos fogos de artifícios Com muito alimento no estômago, o animal pode ter problemas de digestão e até uma torção gástrica, caso entre em pânico.
- Se o animal é do tipo que fica muito descontrolado, até com taquicardia, deve-se pedir ao veterinário de confiança a indicação de ansiolíticos.
“No momento dos fogos de artifícios, para os animais que ficam dentro de casa é aconselhável manter o local bem adequado, com um som alto vindo da televisão ou de música ambiente. O tutor deve agir naturalmente e com tranquilidade. Caso o animal queira se esconder, deve-se permitir, sem forçá-lo a ficar no colo. Colocar algodão nos ouvidos para abafar o som é uma alternativa, lembrando que é preciso retirá-los depois”, conclui a editora.
