Chico Flores lança álbum com participação das Ganhadeiras de Itapuã
O cantor e compositor Chico Flores lança seu 2º álbum completamente autoral intitulado “Tupi Negro”, onde faz uma revisitação crítica ao processo de colonização do Brasil e exalta a herança e tradição dos povos originários: indígenas e afro-brasileiros. O álbum, que conta com 10 faixas, traz uma mistura de influências rítmicas como samba, bossa-nova, ijexá, funk, blues, jazz, rock’n roll, e guitarrada paraense, que horas trazem um ritmo mais dançante e em outros momentos transmitem uma sonoridade mais melódica.
Em suas letras Chico questiona de forma enfática e poética padrões socioculturais e critica a desigualdade social, o racismo, o familismo, a intolerância religiosa e a homofobia.
“É um álbum que traz questionamentos sobre as raízes e rotas que construíram nossa sociedade e que também se relacionam comigo de forma pessoal. Na vivência que tive e na forma como me apresento ao mundo”, revela o cantor. O álbum está disponível nas plataformas de streaming de música.
Nas músicas “Pindorama Violada” e “Tupi Negro”, que dá nome ao álbum, Chico Flores faz uma releitura ácida sobre a história do “Descobrimento do Brasil” e revela o legado de dor, violência e morte que permanecem até hoje representados na formação social e urbana da Bahia, e mais especificamente, na cidade de Salvador. O álbum conta ainda com a participação das Ganhadeiras de Itapuã em duas canções: “Rapsódia tropical”, música inspirada no poema ‘Os homens ocos’ de Thomas Stearns Eliot, e “Amazônia em vertigem”, música instrumental que traz referências da dança da chuva dos índios ianomâmis com um coro a Oxóssi e Ogum entoado pelas Ganhadeiras, em uma saudação à cultura do povo indígena e preto que tem grande conexão com as matas e a natureza, trazendo também uma reflexão sobre a preservação ambiental.
Outro destaque do álbum, “Madame Satã”, é uma canção de inspiração autobiográfica e também baseada na história de João Francisco dos Santos, transformista, negro, gay, que migrou de Pernambuco para o Rio de Janeiro na década de 20 , tornando-se o principal malandro do bairro da Lapa. A música destaca o movimento de diáspora gay que muitas pessoas são forçadas a fazer para fugir da discriminação da própria família, principalmente em cidades do interior.
Chico Flores resume sua obra em Tupi Negro como um grito para romper com as amarras sociais que são convencionadas como “normais” e que formam parte da identidade cultural brasileira a partir de uma herança histórica de dominação europeia. “É um clamor pela liberdade de ser quem se é, de resgate a nossa cultura ancestral e de reflexão sobre os preconceitos e desigualdades que nos cercam”, destaca o cantor.
