Lindas praias e natureza exuberante dão um toque especial à Ilha dos Frades. A Ponta de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, que fica situada na Ilha, é bastante famosa e frequentada por turistas principalmente durante o Verão.
E agora como sua excelência renovada! Acaba de ter o selo Bandeira Azul renovado mais uma vez pela Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). Esta é a quarta renovação da honraria, que certifica a qualidade das principais praias ao redor do mundo.

A concessão do selo se dá após avaliação de requisitos de qualidade socioambiental, como segurança, qualidade da água, gestão e educação ambiental. Já foram distribuídos mais de 4.600 selos em todo o planeta, sendo 3.500 somente para praias, marinas e embarcações turísticas, sendo somente dez delas no Brasil, entre cinco localidades contempladas. São elas Prainha (RJ), Tombo (Guarujá-SP), Governador Celso Ramos (SC) e uma praia fluvial em Florianópolis (SC), além do paraíso soteropolitano.
Integrante do território de Salvador, a Ponta de Nossa Senhora faz parte de uma Área de Proteção Cultural e Paisagística (APCP) e, desde 1982, é Reserva Ecológica. A localidade possui belezas naturais preservadas por força da ação do projeto Baía Viva, além da supervisão da Secretaria Municipal de Sustentabilidade, Inovação e Resiliência (Secis), que estuda a implantação de um parque natural na região.
Outras praias da capital baiana estão na mira da FEE e sendo preparadas pelo município para receber a certificação. Ipitanga, Praia do Flamengo e Stella Maris, que serão requalificadas pela Prefeitura, irão reivindicar o selo.
Monumentos
A Ilha dos Frades é considerada um verdadeiro reduto ecológico, em razão de manter uma vasta área de Mata Atlântica. Entre os monumentos históricos da ilha, destacam-se as ruínas da Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, construída no século XVII; a Igreja Nossa Senhora do Loreto, erguida no século XVIII; a Igreja Nossa Senhora do Bom Parto; o Farol da Ilha dos Frades; as ruínas de um lazareto; e o armazém de quarentena de escravos.
Entre as praias famosas, além da de Ponta de Nossa Senhora, estão Loreto, Panamana, Tobar e Viração.
