Follow the Music: um passeio com música e diversidade por Salvador
A diversidade cultural é uma marca registrada de Salvador, na Bahia, uma das mais importantes cidades de maioria negra fora da África e um local rico em sonoridades e ritmos que se misturam, ajudando a criar uma cidade diversa e vibrante.
Para valorizar este caldeirão musical, a Prefeitura de Salvador, por meio da Secretaria de Turismo e Cultura lançou o filme Follow the Music, um projeto que mostra as muitas cidades que formam Salvador, com sua profusão de ritmos e suas múltiplas faces.
O projeto faz parte da estratégia de marketing e promoção do destino Salvador da Bahia e está sendo veiculado no site salvadordabahia.com e nas redes sociais Visite Salvador da Bahia. O objetivo do filme é deixar o turista ainda mais curioso a conhecer Salvador profundamente, misturando boa música e imagens icônicas da cidade.
Concebido pela Usina Digital, e realizado em parceria com a produtora Mandinga Filmes, Follow the Music foi inspirado em um artigo publicado no New York Times (EUA) em julho de 2019 (“When in Brazil, Just Follow the Music“) que fala sobre a cidade e sua relação com a musicalidade, descrevendo-a como um lugar onde “o ritmo não te enganará”. O resultado foi um filme que mostra pessoas dançando em pontos turísticos como o Palácio Rio Branco, Elevador Lacerda, Igreja de Nossa Senhora D´Ajuda, Praia da Barra, e na Comunidade da Gamboa, no Nordeste de Amaralina, nos trens que passam pelo Subúrbio Ferroviário e no ABOCA Centro de Artes, no charmoso bairro do Santo Antônio Além do Carmo. Os dançarinos e personagens convidados, como Edilene Alves, Deusa do Ébano e a Drag Queen Spadina Banks, têm excelentes histórias de representatividade na cidade, trazendo para o filme um pouco de seus trabalhos pessoais e história.
Edilene Alves aparece no clipe dançando com a indumentária tradicional da Deusa do Ébano do Bloco Afro Ilê Aiyê, com amarrações da própria Dete Lima, estilista e uma das dirigentes que formaram o bloco. “Só Dete Lima pode fazer esta roupa, ela é toda de amarrações feitas no próprio corpo. Se vestir para dançar faz parte do ritual, é quando o que está internalizado sai, pois a dança é completamente afetiva, ela aflora a sua verdade”, conta.
Já Spadina Banks, uma das Drags mais badaladas da atualidade, faz parte de uma cena efervescente de Salvador que vem se destacando entre outras cidades do país. “Somos parte de uma geração de artistas muito politizados, que trabalham juntos pela valorização dos espaços de resistência. Transportamos este sentimento para os palcos, o discurso está em todas as apresentações”, explica Douglas Nassife, que se apresenta como Spadina Banks há quatro anos.
Além delas, o filme conta com a participação de outros nomes expressivos em defesa da diversidade como a família Nascimento – Joseneia, Luma e Loo – Mãe e filhas que representam sabedoria, resistência e empoderamento, assumindo um papel importante de discussão sobre assuntos como racismo, feminismo, aceitação e empreendedorismo. A família é completamente ligada à musicalidade baiana, uma vez que são filhas de Paulo Roberto Nascimento, presidente e idealizador do Bloco Afro Os Negões, uma das instituições mais respeitadas mundialmente em política social e racial de Salvador.
Outros personagens reforçam a diversidade do vídeo, como a belga Carina Mackels, que veio aprender português em Salvador e se apaixonou pela cidade e o capoeirista Igor dos Santos Souza, que deixou todos boquiabertos com seus movimentos expressivos, assim como a bailarina Juliana Marques, que dançou ballet clássico ao som do pagode baiano; e de bailarinos do ballet VIP.
A trilha que dita o ritmo do filme é uma criação do DJ e produtor soteropolitano João Gabriel Ubunto. Para o projeto, o artista adaptou sua música “Caretas” ao lado de importantes nomes da música baiana: o maestro da Orkestra Rumpilezz Letieres Leite, a percussionista do Cortejo Afro Nanny Santos e o guitarrista da banda ÀTTØØXXÁ Chibatinha. Misturando tradição e elementos da nova música baiana, o grupo chegou a um som vibrante, poderoso e envolvente que revela a diversidade sonora e musical de Salvador.
