Novembro Azul: Precisamos falar sobre o exame de próstata
De outubro para novembro e do rosa ao azul, ao longo dos dois meses, o câncer esteve em pauta no cenário da Saúde. Não por acaso, o câncer de (mama e da próstata) contam com altos índices da população, além de possuírem projeções cada vez maiores para os próximos anos. A conscientização e a prevenção são os dois pontos destacados pelas campanhas, mas, em especial, no Novembro Azul, as ações buscam ainda combater outro fator: o preconceito em relação à realização do exame de próstata.
Iniciada há 16 anos, a ação realizada neste mês mobiliza mais de 17 países. “Essa campanha não somente trouxe a real importância sobre o câncer de próstata na saúde dos homens, mas uma iniciativa na quebra do preconceito da sociedade por meio da conscientização e da informação, como ainda reforçou o apoio a projetos de pesquisas sobre a saúde do homem”, ressalta o coordenador do Curso de Tecnologia em Radiologia da Faculdade Santa Marcelina, Prof. Dr. Ibevan Arruda Nogueira.
De acordo com o Instituto Nacional de Câncer (INCA), em 2018, a doença manifestada na próstata foi a mais comum entre os homens, apresentando 68.000 casos. O órgão federal ainda indica que 90% dos casos tem cura, quando diagnosticados precocemente.
Neste cenário, a descoberta da doença no início é fundamental para um tratamento eficaz e sem grandes efeitos colaterais à saúde e ao bem-estar do paciente. A visita regular ao especialista faz parte desse cuidado e deve ocorrer sem preocupação, medo e principalmente sem qualquer tipo de preconceito.
“A melhor maneira para evitar a doença chama-se conscientização, com campanhas de esclarecimento mostrando a importância dos exames de rotina, da avaliação regular com o urologista e ainda com diagnósticos precoces mais avançados. O homem inteligente e preocupado com a sua saúde desconsidera todos os preconceitos e foca em seu bem mais valioso: a vida”, pontua o professor.
Nogueira explica que o primeiro exame para uma avaliação de rotina, o PSA (Antígeno Prostático Específico), ocorre a partir da coleta de sangue para análise laboratorial, recomendado de acordo com o histórico familiar, a partir dos 50 anos de idade. “Há tumores que podem crescer de forma rápida, espalhando-se para outros órgãos e pode levar à morte. No Brasil, a cada 10 homens com o diagnóstico de câncer de próstata, nove têm mais de 55 anos, sendo considerado o ‘câncer da terceira idade’”.
